Academic Assessments

At JK Educate we assess children individually from Year 1 up to Year 8, to test potential and measure their ability against their cohort nationally. This helps with planning their future education. Our assessments provide clear recommendations on how to move your child forward, to achieve their potential and choose the right school for them

At JK Educate, we explore every possible way for your child to reach their full potential. Working with us gives them the best chance to improve their current academic position.

We offer a unique set of assessments designed for children aged 6 to 16 to better understand their academic capabilities. Our tailored assessments will help you gauge your childā€™s strengths, weaknesses and note any room for improvement in preparation for entrance exams or national exams. We then feed back on our findings and offer advice as to which schools they would feel best placed to attend. Itā€™s the foundation for the other 11+ services like mock exams and interview preparation.

We will also recommend whether your child would benefit from further one-to-one tutoring.

How our child assessments help parents:

  • Assessments allow parents to understand the academic level a child is currently reaching at school and how they are doing compared to others nationally.
  • Assessment reports identify a childā€™s academic potential and determine if they are currently reaching it, and if not then why not?
  • They identify a childā€™s suitability for the range of entrance exams for selective schools at 7+, 8+, 9+, 10+, 11+ and 13+.
  • Our assessment feedback discussion with parents includes recommending suitable future schools and whether tutoring might be required to prepare for entrance exams.

Why your Child should take our Academic Assessment

Entrance exams are a common way for selective academic schools to decide on admissions. Our invaluable assessments allow us to provide detailed feedback, so you are aware of the ways your child could make further academic strides ā€“ be it in the run up to 7+, 8+, 9+, 10+, 11+ and 13+ entrance exams or national exams.

You will then be able to better identify which future path in education would be most suitable for your child. We donā€™t believe in tutoring a child for a school that would be a poor fit, and so this method prepares you with the knowledge to make the right decisions.

How we assess performance

We are one of very few tutoring services who offer this unique assessment. Our expert team tailors each one to the appropriate age group. The results give us a clear indication of the level your child is working at nationally, and what adjustments to their learning you can make immediately. Our academic assessments consist of a range of tests which take between 1.5 and 3 hours depending on the age.

They are then marked by senior teachers at deputy head or senior school leader level. All evaluations are presented in a clear formal report, including advice and future recommendations in regards to appropriate future schools. We also dedicate the time to talk to you face-to-face. This allows us to present unmatched detail and to further lay out your childā€™s progress.

Next Steps after the Academic Assessment

Our unique assessment is extremely beneficial in understanding your childā€™s current academic performance, how best to improve and how to prepare either for entrance or national examinations. After a detailed feedback briefing, we may recommend our JK tutors to continue to support the development of your child.

Depending on the outcome of the assessment, we may recommend our outstanding tutoring services to continue working together with your child. We tutor children to approach their exams with plenty of confidence in their abilities and the necessary knowledge.

We want to make sure your child is ready for the next stage of their academic progress where they will continue to learn and grow. We will discuss with you how to support your child with their move into secondary school.

Academic Assessments for 11+ & 13+ Admissions

If you are looking to move your child into a high-performing academic secondary school, they will most likely be required to take an 11+ or 13+ admission exam. Our 13+ and 11+ assessments measure your childā€™s suitability for selective secondary schools and will give you an indication of your childā€™s likely chances of success. We will discuss with you how we can best support your child with their preparation, and you will be offered the opportunity to use our tutoring services. Have a look at our JK tutoring team.

Testimonials

Taking Jacob for an assessment was definitely well spent money, as it enabled us to confirm some things that we already knew, plus you provided us with additional information which gave us food for thought. This was valuable as our planning for the academic future of Jacob started to take shape, based on more empirical evidence and credible advice. We will definitely recommend this service to others

This is the only service that I have found which does a thorough, independent testing of ability. Very useful.

I just wanted to write to thank you very much for the assessment you recently carried out for my daughter.

What you did was exactly what we needed. Your feedback has allowed us to better understand our daughter and her abilities. Whatā€™s more, the objective information you provided about different schools and what they look for has helped us to make a more informed decision about where to focus our efforts for secondary school applications.

I would not hesitate to recommend your services to anyone looking for an objective evaluation of their child or assistance in understanding their options. It seems likely weā€™ll be in touch soon for our son.
